Watched a guy at the Austin repair shop reflow a laptop board with a $12 hot plate
Stopped by a shop on Burnet Road to pick up a donor laptop and the tech had a dead ThinkPad board sitting on a cheap griddle from Goodwill. He said he's fixed 30 of 40 boards that way this year, money back every time on ones the manufacturer quoted $400 to replace. Do you all still reach for the reflow station, or has anyone else gone the cheap route?
