Unpopular opinion: running a shop without a bench PSU is a mistake, and a retired tech at the Ferndale swap meet finally got me to admit it
I used to think a good multimeter and a pile of wall warts covered 95% of what walks in the door, so when this retired guy told me he refuses to diagnose any dead laptop without a bench supply on the rail, I rolled my eyes. Then he walked me through a Toshiba that three of us wrote off as a bad charge IC, and it turned out the board was fine, the power brick was sagging under load at 18.4 volts instead of 19. He said "you can't watch a rail breathe with a two second meter reading." What's your go to for finding a weak brick that tests fine with no load?
