Serious question, why do shops in Phoenix still keep thermal paste in a drawer next to the AC vents?
I was at a repair shop over on Camelback Rd last Thursday picking up a laptop for a client and I watched the tech pull a tube of paste out of a drawer that sits right under a wall AC unit blowing cold air all day. The tube was separated, clear liquid coming out first, and he just squeezed it onto a CPU like nothing was wrong. I asked him about it and he said it's cheaper to buy in bulk and the drawer is just where they always kept it. That paste has been sitting in cold air and heat cycles for who knows how long, it's basically garbage at that point. I get that margins are tight, I really do, but a $7 tube of paste is not the place to save money when a bad mount means a redo ticket and a mad customer. So how do you all store your paste in the summer? Am I crazy for keeping mine in a sealed box at room temp with a date written on the tube?
