Hot water suits feel sketchy after a bell dive in the Gulf

I did a 14 day spread off Grand Isle last month and the hot water suit kept failing at 200 feet, yet everyone on deck swore by them, so am I the only one who thinks we lean too hard on that system instead of just more bottom time checks?
