Wasted $200 on a 'collector's edition' comic box set that was basically a scam
I grabbed this limited run box set from a small online shop last month, paid $200 for what they said was rare variant covers and exclusive art prints. When it showed up, the comics were just cheap reprints with bad coloring and the prints were on this flimsy paper that ripped when I opened it. The seller won't respond to my emails and now their site is gone. Has anyone else gotten burned by those flashy indie comic bundles?

Did you try checking if the shop had any social media or a mailing list before it vanished? Cause I've seen this happen way too many times with these small indie drops that pop up overnight and disappear just as fast. They promise all these exclusive goodies but its just stock art and cheap printing they bought in bulk. I learned my lesson after dropping $150 on a "limited edition" zine that showed up looking like it was printed at a library. The worst part is these sellers know they cant be tracked down so they just ghost everyone. You probably have a better shot doing a chargeback with your bank than waiting for a refund from that seller.

oh man that whole situation hits way too close to home actually. a buddy of mine got burned real bad last year with this one shop that popped up on instagram selling these handpainted jackets he was so hyped about. like he showed me the photos and they looked legit, had progress shots and everything. put down like $200 on a preorder and the guy just disappeared after he paid. no website no nothing just an instagram page that got deleted. and @kai657 you hit the nail on the head about the chargeback thing because my friend went back and forth with his bank for weeks before they finally refunded him. the seller had already closed the payment account by then so it was a whole mess. what gets me is these people know exactly how to game the system, they pick a platform thats hard to track and dip out as soon as they get enough orders. honestly the safest bet now is to only buy from shops that have at least a year of history or real people vouching for them.
