Update: Banana boxes sorted my comic book disaster

I mean, my comics were piled up so high I couldn't see my desk. So I grabbed some banana boxes from the store, and now everything's sorted, but my room smells like a tropical fruit stand, lol.

Seriously, cardboard smell memory is WILD. I moved last year and all my kitchen stuff got packed in apple boxes. For months my plates made my cupboard smell like a freaking orchard. Opening it was like a weird fresh snack hallucination every time. I kinda miss it now.

Yeah that makes total sense, cardboard is super porous. I read somewhere that the fibers act like a sponge for smells, especially fruit oils. So your banana boxes probably soaked up all that sweet, sticky residue from the store. It's not just a smell, it's like the actual stuff gets in there. My old records still faintly smell like the peach boxes I moved them in two years ago, it never really goes away.
