Question about reading comics on a tablet versus in a shop. I tried both for a year and the shop was way better.

My local shop closed last year and it totally killed my pull list habit. Something about flipping through actual pages just hits different, you know? The screen feels cold compared to that new book smell. I miss the random chats with the guy behind the counter most of all.

That new book smell thing is real, it's like a memory trigger. My brain connects that smell to the quiet focus of reading, which a screen notification can't match. The shop closing didn't just take away a store, it took away that whole little ritual.

Honestly, the digital shift saved my comic habit. My old shop was always a hassle to get to, and missing an issue felt like a big deal. Now my whole library is on a tablet, no boxes to store, and I can read anything anytime. That "cold" screen is just as full of great stories, and I don't miss the guilt of skipping small talk.
