My pour over timer hit 4 minutes by accident
Honestly I was rushing through my morning routine last week and left my V60 sitting there way longer than usual. I got distracted by my dog barking at a squirrel and when I finally came back the timer on my scale said 4 minutes 12 seconds. Usually I aim for like 2:30 to 3 minutes tops so I figured the cup would be bitter garbage. But nope it was actually super smooth and brought out a chocolatey note I never got from those beans before. Now I'm wondering if I've been under extracting this whole time by cutting it off too early. Has anyone else accidentally let their brew go way past their usual time and ended up liking it better?

Honestly I don't think a few extra minutes on a pour over is that deep. I've left my V60 go to 4 minutes before and it was fine but nothing amazing. Maybe your beans were just good that day and the timing was a coincidence. I've also had 4 minute brews come out bitter and disappointing so it's probably more about the specific beans and grind than some magic time hack. People get way too wrapped up in exact numbers for coffee.
