Appreciation post: Why the reusable cup policy is dividing our brew community

Honestly, the new spot that makes drinks near me now lets you bring your own mugs. Some folks here love it, saying it's better for the environment. Tbh, other people hate it, worrying about dirt and germs. Ngl, I can't pick a side because both have good points. What's your view on this?

Clear hygiene rules fix most of these problems. Shops that do this right have staff check mugs before filling them. Some even give a small discount to encourage clean cups, which cuts down on complaints. Without those steps, it's just asking for trouble with germs and mess.

Does your spot have a rule about it? The coffee shop I go to washes mugs for you first, and that pretty much ended the fights.
