That fancy gooseneck kettle was a $70 mistake
I bought one of those electric goosenecks with the temperature dial last month, thinking it would fix my pour overs. Turns out my regular stove kettle with a thermometer does the SAME thing, I just have to wait an extra minute for it to settle. The narrow spout is nice but not worth the cash when i already had a decent setup. Anyone else paid way too much for gear that didnt change the cup one bit?

Did you ever count how many pours it takes to empty that gooseneck versus a regular kettle? Because that's what got me, I timed mine once out of boredom and realized I was just pouring slower, not better. I had a similar thing with a fancy coffee scale that measures to 0.1 grams, but my old cheap kitchen scale was honestly fine for the same result. My take is half of this gear is just solving problems I invented for myself, and the other half is for people who really do dial in every variable. But hey, if it makes you enjoy the ritual more, maybe it's not a total loss, just a fun tax.
