The customer who tried to explain G-code to me using a blender
Had this guy come into the shop last week asking if we could cut him a custom part. Fine, normal request. But then he sees the CNC running and starts telling me how my feed rate is too high, says it's like a blender on puree instead of chop. I just nodded and kept an eye on the spindle because the part he wanted was basically a flat washer with extra holes. He goes on for another ten minutes about how I should use his phone app that turns your voice into G-code, said it's foolproof. I asked him if he'd ever run a machine before and he said no, but he watched a YouTube video about it. I gave him a quote of $85 and he acted like I was robbing him, then asked if I could do it for $20 because it's 'just a few lines of code'. I told him the code is free, the setup and tooling is what costs money. Has anyone else dealt with someone who thinks programming a CNC is like typing a text message?
