Ran 47 parts on Friday with zero scrap and I still cant believe it
So last Friday I got handed a rush job for 47 aluminum brackets, tolerances were plus or minus two thousandths on the bore, and I figured there was no way I was getting through it clean. Normally on a run that size I lose at least 2 or 3 parts to chatter or a tool wearing out halfway through. But the setup just clicked this time. I indicated the vise in to under a tenth, bumped my speeds down about 15 percent from what I usually run, and swapped to a fresh carbide insert before I even started instead of waiting for the finish to go bad. Ran the first part, checked it on the bench with my mics, dead nuts. Second one same thing. By lunch I was at 20 parts and hadn't touched a single offset. Walked out at 4:30 with all 47 in the tub and the inspector signed off on the whole batch without a single red tag. Boss just nodded when I told him but I was grinning the whole drive home. Any of you guys have a run where everything just lined up like that, or was it pure luck and next time I eat it?
