Upgraded my water heater to a heat pump, the $1,800 gamble is paying off

I put down $1,800 on a hybrid heat pump unit back in March after my old tank died, and my electric bill dropped about $45 a month since then. It was annoying to install with the condensate drain, but has anyone else seen real savings or did I just get lucky with the climate here in Austin?
