Rant: A customer told me my inspection reports were too scary to read

About six months ago, a homeowner in Springfield flat out told me, 'Your report reads like a horror movie script. I just see a list of problems and shut down.' I used to think being super detailed and technical was the only professional way, listing every single crack and code violation. But she was right. I changed my format to start with a simple summary page that says what's safe, what needs watching, and what needs fixing now. I still put all the technical stuff in the back, but the first page is for them, not for me. It's made a huge difference in how people react and actually book the repairs I suggest. Has anyone else had to change how they talk to customers about what they find?

Seriously? It sounds like more busywork to me.
