My uncle swore the 1980s Star Wars figures were better, so I tested that theory with my kids

My uncle Ron always goes on about how the old Kenner figures were built tougher and had more charm than anything today. So I dug out his old stash from my parents attic, about 15 figures with chewed up limbs and paint wear. Gave them to my 8 year old and 6 year old for an afternoon alongside their modern ones. They played for maybe 20 minutes before the vintage Luke's arm popped off and the slug thing lost a leg. My kids looked at me like I gave them broken junk. Meanwhile the new figures survived being thrown down the stairs twice. I get the nostalgia thing, but Ron's advice was just flat out wrong for actual play. Has anyone else tried to pass down older toys and had the kids reject them fast?
