Pulled up 60 yards of old berber in a Maple Grove basement and found the slab soaked, do you walk or eat it?
Honestly last Tuesday I show up to a finished basement in Maple Grove and the homeowner swears the carpet is 8 years old with no water issues, but when I peel back the first corner near the sump pit the pad is dripping wet and there's white fuzz on the tack strip. I stopped right there and called the guy over, showed him the moisture reading of 28 percent, and told him I can't lay new carpet over that or it'll mold in a month. He got mad and said the last installer would've just done it, so now I'm out a $1,400 job and he's calling around. Half of me thinks I should've just tarped it and taken the check, the other half knows my name is on that work. What do you guys do when the moisture meter kills the job, walk or write it up and let them decide?
