Just realized my stair stringer was off by 3/8 inch after I already glued it up
I was framing basement stairs in a house over in Boise last month and had the stringers cut and glued at the landing when I noticed the top riser sat 3/8 inch lower than the rest. I ended up prying the whole thing apart with a flat bar, cleaning off the old glue with a chisel, and recutting the notch at 7 inches even though it ate up my whole afternoon. Is there a trick you guys use to double check the riser height before the glue bottle even comes out?
