PSA: Cheap rain fly let a storm soak my sleeping bag at Lake Ouachita
Two weekends ago I camped at Lake Ouachita in Arkansas and a thunderstorm rolled in around 2 a.m. My tent was a hand me down from my brother in law, and the rain fly that came with it had a small tear near the top seam that I figured was no big deal. By morning my sleeping bag and pad were soaked, plus about $200 worth of gear in the corner of the tent was wet. Now I check the seams and do a hose test in the yard before any trip. What do you all do to test a fly before you trust it on a real trip?
