Swore by finger tight plus a quarter turn on every F connector until a call back in Tucson proved me wrong
I ran 14 years always snugging F connectors finger tight then giving them a quarter turn with a 7/16 wrench, thought that was the gold standard. Got called back to a place in Tucson where the picture was pixelating on just the higher channels, and when I pulled the wall plate the center conductor had actually receded back into the dielectric from all that wrench torque. A senior tech who rode with me said "just finger tight, that's it, the rubber gasket does the sealing not the torque," and I stood there feeling dumb. Now I check every fitting with a push pull test instead of guessing by feel, and I haven't had a loose connector callback in 8 months. Anybody else overcrank their fittings for years before somebody finally called them on it?
