Guy on my crew in Tulsa said never trust a drop ceiling grid, and it saved my back last Tuesday
I was running a new coax run through a dental office in Tulsa last Tuesday and the grid looked solid enough to lean on while I fished the wall. My lead guy Marcus said early on to never put weight on those thin T-bars, because they pop out of the hanger wires and everything comes down with you. I braced on it anyway for maybe two seconds and heard a pop, so I grabbed the ladder instead and the whole tile beside me dropped and bounced off the chair. Anyone else got a close call that made them listen to the old guys after the fact?
