Unpopular opinion: that fancy track saw system is worth every penny
I always thought those track saw setups were overpriced hype for guys who can't use a table saw. Then last Tuesday I had to break down 14 sheets of 3/4 inch walnut veneer ply for a kitchen in Austin. My old circular saw guide kept wandering on the first two cuts and ruined a $180 sheet. Borrowed my buddy's track saw and the next 12 cuts were dead straight with almost no tearout. Anybody else switch over, or am I just late to the party?
Man, I felt this in my soul because I spent years telling anyone who would listen that a track saw was just a table saw for cowards. Then I watched a guy zip through a stack of ply in my own shop and every cut was square and clean with zero cussing. My circular saw and I have a long history of ruining sheets together, so I was basically the last holdout in the whole state. The part nobody tells you is how fast setup goes, you just drop the rail and go instead of fighting a guide that walks on you. You are not late to the party, you just finally showed up with the right tool.
