PSA: I stopped cutting dados with a router jig and went back to my old table saw setup
For years I cut every single dado with a router and a homemade jig, and I thought I was being smart about it. Back in 2016 I built a whole kitchen's worth of cabinets in my shop in Spokane using that setup, and it worked fine, just slow. Then maybe two years ago my jig finally warped from sitting in the cold garage, and I got mad enough to drag out the old stacked dado set for my table saw. First cabinet I ran through it, a 24 inch base, took me about 40 seconds for both sides instead of the 10 minutes of clamping and measuring with the router. The cut was cleaner too, almost no tearout on the plywood, which I never got with the router no matter what bit I bought. Now I only pull the router jig out for stopped dados or when a panel's too big to run across the saw safely. I still keep it hanging on the wall though, mostly out of habit. Any of you made a switch like this and wondered why you waited so long?
