A painter's throwaway comment made me ditch my finish schedule

I spent 5 years spraying everything with precat lacquer because that's what my first boss used, until a painter looked at my kitchen cabinets in a job in Portland and said "looks great, too bad it'll yellow in a year." He was right, the client's white shaker doors had that warm tint already and I never even noticed because I was too busy polishing the grain. Anyone else have a finisher or painter call out something that made you switch products or processes entirely?
