Now I snap a photo when I finish a big task.

Your friend's visual log probably made you realize how photos can capture progress. I started doing something similar after seeing how others track their wins (it's a game changer). Now those photos serve as little reminders of what you've done.

Actually I'm the opposite of @patp79 on this. For me, seeing the real, physical result (like a finished deck) beats any photo. The pictures never really show the whole story anyway.
