Why does nobody talk about booking flights on Wednesdays? I tested it for 3 months straight and here's what happened

I used to always book flights on weekends like everyone else, but after reading a random blog about airline pricing I tried booking on a Wednesday for 3 months from NYC to Chicago. Every single time I found cheaper fares, like $40 less on average, but my friend swears it's just coincidence and timing is random. So is this a real hack or just a myth people keep repeating because it sounds good?

Funny you mention that, my buddy Mike booked a Wednesday afternoon flight to Chicago last month thinking he'd have the whole row to himself. Ended up next to a guy who snored so loud the flight attendant asked if he needed medical help.
