Thought hostel loyalty cards were a gimmick till last summer in Barcelona

I always figured those hostel loyalty cards were just a way to get you to pay upfront for nothing. Stayed at a St Christopher's in Barcelona for 5 nights and the card got me a free night plus 10% off their bar and breakfast. Worked out to saving like 45 euros which is a whole meal and a train ride somewhere. Anybody else have a loyalty program that actually paid off on a trip?

Man honestly I'm usually the guy who loses the card before I even check in so this is impressive. 45 euros is basically my entire budget for souvenirs I'll never look at again.
