Ha, airlines do sometimes check the billing address against the IP.

Started reading this and it makes total sense actually. Colombia's flight taxes and fees are way lower than most other countries in South America, so you jump on a VPN there and suddenly that $600 ticket to Europe shows up as $400. I've seen people do similar tricks with Peru and Chile too, the airline pricing algorithms don't really care where you're physically located if your IP says you're somewhere with cheaper fares. Definitely worth trying if you're booking something expensive, just make sure your payment method doesn't freak out and block the transaction.
