My uncle called me a fool for using hotel breakfast buffets wrong for 10 years

Was in Nashville last month at a cheap motel, loading up a plate of eggs and soggy waffles. My uncle calls me from across the room and says "you're doing it all wrong, grab a ziplock from your bag and make a sandwich for later." He showed me how to grab extra fruit, yogurts, and even wrap up a muffin to take on the hike. I always thought that was stealing but he said it's included. Now I only book places with free breakfast and save like $8 a day on snacks. Anyone else's family have weird travel rules that changed how you pack or eat?

Grabbing a ziplock from your bag and making a sandwich for later" is a MOVE. I've been doing the hotel breakfast thing all wrong for years too. I used to be the guy that just grabs one banana and some dry cereal because I felt guilty taking more than one plate. But then my cousin showed me his trick of wrapping a pancake around some bacon and calling it a "breakfast to go." I felt like a criminal doing it at first but now I bring my own baggie for the good stuff. The real pro tip is grabbing those little jam packets and butter pats, those are basically free condiments for life.

Own a small cooler bag in my trunk just for this purpose. Feels like I'm pulling a heist every time I grab those little yogurts and a box of cereal.
