I was skeptical about booking flights 6 months out, turns out it actually worked this time
Back in March I needed to fly from Chicago to Denver for a family thing in September. Every budget blog I read said book early, but I always figured prices drop closer to the date. Decided to test it with a $43 round trip on Frontier that popped up. Grabbed it just to see. Same route today is showing $178. My mind is blown honestly. That one experiment paid for my rental car basically. Has anyone else had a good experience locking in those early fares, or is this just a lucky fluke with that specific route?

My buddy Tom snagged a $29 Allegiant flight from Nashville to Orlando back in January for an August trip, and he swore it was a mistake until he actually boarded. He checked the same flight every week out of curiosity and watched it climb to $140 by July. He still brings it up at parties like he won the lottery, so I'd say you're onto something.
