I finally tried overnight buses to save on hotels

I used to think they were uncomfortable and skipped them. Then a friend talked me into a long bus ride to another city. Ngl, I slept okay and saved a whole night's stay cost. Now I check bus schedules for night trips. It cuts my lodging bill and means one less flight or drive.

I mean cutting the lodging bill is smart but sometimes you just end up paying for a hotel nap anyway.

Yeah that hotel nap tax is real. What I started doing is booking a super early check in, like 10 AM, for a small extra fee. That way I actually use the room for a whole afternoon to crash after travel. Another move is just getting a day pass to a gym with good showers if I land super early, then check in normally. Saves the whole room cost and you feel way more human.

Totally feel that hotel nap tax @holly_price, it's a universal law at this point. I've tried all the tricks but my body just sees a hotel bed and goes into mandatory coma mode. Set an alarm for a productive afternoon and wake up at 6 pm in a dark room, fully committed to the nap. I'm basically a professional at paying for a room just to sleep in weird daylight hours.
