Pro tip: hit the local farmers market right at closing time
I swung by the farmers market in Oak Park last Saturday about 15 minutes before they shut down. One vendor dropped his price on a flat of tomatoes from $12 to $5 just to clear them out. Got enough to can a batch of sauce for the whole winter. Anyone else find good deals that way?

Yeah, "15 minutes before they shut down" is the sweet spot for sure. That's been my experience too, not just at farmers markets but at a lot of places. I've noticed this pattern where people just want to get rid of stuff at the end of a shift, whether it's the bakery discounting day-old bread or the deli counter doing half-price containers. It's like the whole system is built around avoiding waste, and the closer you get to closing time, the more desperate they are to move product. It's a simple but pretty solid life hack, really. Just show up when everyone else is leaving, and you'll catch the deals.

Oh, it's funny how that same logic applies to life in general, isn't it.
