My mom's one comment about canned beans changed my whole meal prep

I used to buy those pre-seasoned canned beans for like $2.50 a can because I hated soaking dry ones. My mom watched me dump a can into chili and said 'you pay extra for water and salt, honey.' So I tried dry beans for real, bought a 2 lb bag for $3.50 and got 7 meals out of it. Had to learn the soaking timing and a cheap pressure cooker trick, but now I can't go back. Anyone else got a relative who shamed them into a cheaper habit that stuck?
