My cheap pasta idea became a funny story
I decided to make my own pasta to cut down on grocery bills. The dough had a mind of its own and I ended up with weird shapes. What's the silliest thing you've made to save money?

I tried making my own laundry soap once to save like ten bucks. It was just grated soap, washing soda, and borax. The mixture never dissolved right, it left these weird gritty chunks on all my dark shirts. My clothes came out looking worse than when they went in, kind of like they were dusted with stale parmesan. I went back to the cheap store brand the very next week.

Tried making reusable dryer sheets from some old flannel rags and a bottle of cheap hair conditioner. Mixed the conditioner with water, soaked the squares, and kept them in a jar. They actually worked for months, made everything smell fine and cut out that dryer sheet cost. Felt pretty clever until my partner found the jar and thought it was some weird lotion.
