Update: my 12 foot wall in the backyard finally looks straight after 3 weekends
Three weekends ago the top course on my garden wall was wandering about an inch and a half over 12 feet, and I could not figure out why. I pulled out my old 4 foot spirit level and a chalk line, and it turns out I was laying the leads way too fast and not checking every course. I slowed down, checked level after each course with a cheap plastic line block, and by Saturday afternoon the bubble sat dead center from end to end. My neighbor walked over and said it finally looks like a real bricklayer did it, which stung a little but felt good. How often do you all check level on a long garden wall, every course or just the leads?
