Update: I was wrong about needle felting being just stabby knitting

I spent 6 months thinking needle felting was basically knitting with extra steps and no payoff. Then my buddy in Portland showed me how to sculpt a tiny fox head using just wool and a single barbed needle. The way the fibers lock together when you stab them at an angle, it clicked for me. It's not yarn at all, it's more like 3D drawing with texture. Has anyone else had a craft they dismissed for ages and then suddenly got hooked after one solid demo?

...and here I was thinking the whole time it was just a way to make felted blobs that looked like sad potatoes. But watching someone take a pile of fluff and actually SHAPE it with a needle, that blew my mind. The whole thing about it being like drawing in 3D, that's exactly what got me too. Now I cant stop stabbing little animals out of wool and my coffee table looks like a weird wildlife sanctuary. Once you see the fibers grip each other, there is NO going back.
