Picked up a tip at the guild meetup about using binder's waste for endpapers

Last month a guy from Portland said he saves all his trimmings from book cloth and leather to make marbled endpapers. I tried it with some scraps I had laying around and it saved me about $30 on a batch of three journals. Has anyone else found a good use for their leftover bits?

I saved a whole box of leather scraps from a batch of six commissions I did last spring and turned them into these really cool patchwork endpapers. The colors didn't match but it gave each journal a unique look that customers actually LOVED more than the plain stuff. It's such a MASSIVE money saver when you're already dropping cash on the good materials.

That's a great point about the leather scraps. I did something similar with some leftover book cloth from a project I was working on. Mixed it up with some pieces I had from an old batch of paper that didn't sell well at a craft fair. Ended up making some really neat looking covers that got a lot of attention from my regular customers. They actually asked me if I was going to do more like that. It really is a smart way to cut down on what you spend on materials without making the final thing look cheap.
