Overheard a guy at a craft fair trash talking linen thread, then he ate his words

I was tabling at a local binders market last Saturday in Portland, and this dude walks by my display, points at my Coptic stitch samples, and tells his buddy that any thread under 4-ply is garbage for real books. I just nodded, but then he picked up a 30 year old journal I'd rebound with 3-ply and tried to snap the spine. It held solid, and he just stared at it for a few seconds before mumbling 'okay that's fine.' Anyone else had someone doubt your materials mid-demo and then get proven wrong on the spot?

Nodded along like I agreed, then watched him learn real quick that 3-ply laughs at doubt. Guess his wallet's the only thing that's gonna stay thin today.
