Hot take: our club fought for 45 minutes over whether Ishiguro's butler was a coward, and I realized the fight was the actual book
Nobody changed their mind about Stevens that Tuesday at Dana's place in Portland, but hearing Marcus quote the same passage to argue the opposite point made me see the whole thing differently, so now I want to know: does your club pick books that split the room or books everyone likes?
Man, our club has never once picked a book everyone liked, that would be a miracle. Last month we split so hard over a 200 page novel that two people stopped talking til the next meeting, so maybe I'm not the one to ask. Sounds like Dana's place had the good kind of fight though.
