Had to choose between a coal forge and gas when I started 20 years ago

I went with coal because it was cheaper to set up, but after fighting with fire management for years I finally switched to gas last spring. The consistency is worth the extra cost, but I still miss the smell of burning coke on a cold morning. Anyone else make the switch later in their career?

Sounds like a lot of drama over hot metal.

Too much drama over hot metal" - yeah @lane.angela, I've been there with my own welding projects. What worked for me was just sticking to my own setup and ignoring the noise. People get weird about techniques but you do what gets the job done.
