Loved The Bear season 2, but season 3 killed our watch party

My group of 5 started season 2 last month and we were hooked, three episodes in one night easily. Then season 3 dropped and we made it through two episodes before everyone bailed on the weekly watch. The pacing got so slow and the flashbacks felt like filler, I get they wanted character depth but it lost the kitchen chaos that made it fun. We switched to a british crime show called Happy Valley and finished all 6 episodes in one weekend. Anyone else have a favorite show that completely lost steam with its next season?
