Hot take: The Office got worse after season 3, and I can prove it with a 2 week rewatch
I binged The Office again over 14 days and tracked my laugh out loud moments in a notes app on my phone. Seasons 1 through 3 gave me 6 to 8 real laughs per episode, but after Jim and Pam got together in season 4 the number dropped to 1 or 2, and by season 6 I was mostly watching for background noise. The change wasn't the characters leaving, it was the writers turning everyone into a cartoon, like Kevin getting stupider and Andy screaming every line. My wife walked in during a season 7 episode and asked why I was still watching if I wasn't laughing. I think most fans rate the later seasons high out of habit and nostalgia, not because the jokes actually land. Does anyone else feel like the first 3 seasons are a totally different show than what came after?
