Park Tool stand vs. cheap amazon stand, no contest after 6 months
I ran a $45 no-name stand from amazon for about 8 months in my home shop and fought it the whole time. The clamp would slowly slip on anything over 30 lbs, so I'd crank it down and mar the seatpost, then the whole tripod would walk across the floor when I pushed hard on a bottom bracket. Bought a used Park PCS-10 off a guy in Dayton for $160 and it's just a different world. The clamp holds a 45 lb e-bike without me white knuckling it, the legs don't creep, and the height adjustment actually stays where I put it. I know people say the cheap ones are fine for casual work, but if you're doing real repairs more than once a week, save the money and buy once. Anyone else made this jump, or did you find a mid-range stand that actually holds up?
