Old timer told me to grease the pedal threads, I thought he was nuts

I used to skip greasing pedal threads. Figured they self-tighten anyway. Then this 70 year old mechanic in Des Moines watched me struggle to remove a seized pedal from a customer's bike. He laughed and said 'grease everything that doesn't move.' Tried it on the next build. Pedals came off with one wrench turn after a season of riding. Now I grease every thread I touch. Anyone else fight a seized pedal for way too long before learning that trick?

So what did you use on the threads, regular grease or anti-seize compound? Ngl I've heard guys argue forever about which one actually works better for pedal installs. I always grab the cheap grease but sometimes wonder if I'm leaving myself open for the same fight later. Honestly that old timer's rule about greasing everything that doesn't move should be printed on every workbench.
