I finally set up a dedicated bench for wheel truing at home
Some folks insist a proper truing stand is the only way to go, but others say a flipped bike and zip ties work fine. I mean, maybe it's just me, but which side are you on? Idk, I'd like to hear what other mechanics think.

My buddy swears by cutting up an old inner tube as a feeler gauge on the seatstay. It's just a cheap tweak to the zip tie method.

Sometimes the best fixes use what's already there, you know?

Totally, that inner tube trick is a game changer. I've been doing it for years and it works better than anything you can buy. The rubber gives you a perfect gap without scratching the frame. I keep a few strips in my tool box just for setting up brakes. It's one of those old shop hacks that never gets old.
