Had a customer bring in a bike with a squirrel nest in the seat tube

It was in a shop in Austin, and the thing was packed with acorns and leaves. We had to use a shop vac and a coat hanger to clear it all out before we could even look at the bottom bracket. Anyone else ever found a whole ecosystem inside a frame?

Ever think about the squirrel's side of this? They spent all that time building a perfect home. Then their whole world gets sucked out by a vacuum. Kind of a bummer for them honestly. Makes you wonder how many frames out there are secretly animal apartments.

Oh wow, that actually got me. I always just saw it as a gross mess to clean up. But picturing a whole little nest, maybe with bits of fluff and stored acorns, all just gone in a second. That's someone's entire house. Makes me look at my own attic differently now, for sure.
