Why does nobody talk about over-tightening toilet bolts being a bad thing?
I used to crank down on toilet tank bolts until they squeaked because I thought tighter meant no leaks. Then last month at my place in Dayton the tank cracked right at the bolt hole and flooded the bathroom floor. A plumber told me hand tight plus a quarter turn is plenty, and I felt like a total idiot. Anyone else learn this the hard way or am I the only one who turned a simple fix into a $200 mistake?
