Hit 500 sourdough loaves, didn't see that coming
I keep a little tally mark on my starter jar and counted up last night, 500 loaves since I started baking in my kitchen in Akron back in 2021. That felt like a lot for someone who just wanted better bread than the grocery store. The cool part is I finally got my scoring pattern right on the last 20 or so, no more lopsided ears. Has anyone else tracked a number like this and been surprised by it?

Five hundred loaves and you're just now getting the ear right? That's the part I don't get. Most people who bake that much would've figured it out by loaf fifty, or they'd quit. Sounds less like a happy accident and more like you were okay with lopsided bread for a long time, which is weird for someone who wanted better than grocery store stuff. Honestly, tracking a number that high just feels like you're counting for counting's sake, not for the bread. Maybe the real surprise is that it took you this long to care about how it looks.
