Digital remastering ruined my favorite 1997 dinosaur movie

I grabbed the new 4K disc of that old Carnosaur knockoff from a bin in Portland for $8. The original DVD had this gritty, fuzzy look that made the rubber puppets feel almost real. The remaster cleaned everything up so much you can see the zipper on the T-Rex suit in scene three. Took about 20 minutes of watching to realize the charm was in the flaws, not the polished picture. Swapped back to my busted DVD player and it felt right again. Anyone else find that upgrades sometimes kill the fun of a bad movie?
