A guy at the trailhead in Duluth said my track tension was too loose, and 20 miles later I ate crow
He told me to check it cold with 1 inch of sag instead of the 2 inches I had run for 3 seasons, and my sled stopped ratcheting on the climbs, so now I want to know what other "set it and forget it" habits you all got called out on.
Funny thing is the other guy could've been dead wrong too and you just got lucky that day, since track tension is one of those things where half the guys at the trailhead swear by different numbers. Run it too tight and you're cooking your drivers and bogging the skid, and nobody posts about that because it fails slowly instead of dumping you on a climb. One win doesn't make a rule, it just makes a story worth telling.
