The radon test i was sure was a waste of money
I bought a radon test kit from Home Depot for $15 just to shut my wife up about it. Left it in the basement for 3 days and it came back at 5.2 pCi/L which is way over the EPA action level. Had to drop $1200 on a mitigation system last month but now our basement level reads 0.8. Has anyone else found something cheap that ended up saving you a bunch of money?

Isn't it funny how the stuff you'd never think twice about can end up being the thing that saves you? Like, we spend so much money on fancy gadgets and big-ticket items, but the real game-changers are always the little things you grab on a whim. I mean, who would've guessed a little kit from the hardware store would be the difference between breathing easy and feeling like your lungs are coated in dust? It's wild how we all overlook the simple fixes until we're standing there, coughing, wishing we'd bought it sooner. That's just how life goes, I guess - you learn the hard way, and then you never forget it.
